Fall Lunchtime Concert Series

Please join us this October for midday music recitals in the back of our Readers Services area. Performances will be held from 12:15pm to 12:45pm. Attendance is free of charge and seating is first come, first served. Bring your lunch and enjoy some great music while you eat!

On Wednesday, October 2nd join soprano, Aleksandra Durin, and guitarist, Darren O'Neill for performances of the music of Benjamin Britten, Richard Charlton, Paul Bowles, and Bryan Johanson. Aleksandra Durin is a young and promising soprano whose performances have taken her to renowned national and international venues. She is the 2021 recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Performance Award from Montclair State University and was a recipient of the Thorne/Tanabe Scholarship while at the Vancouver Academy of Music. Aleksandra holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Music degree from Montclair State University. Darren O'Neill is the current Library Director and Guitarist Extraordinaire.

On Wednesday, October 16th classical guitarists, David Rogers and Darren O'Neill will perform a South American program featuring the music of Rene Bartoli, Erik Marchelie, and Celso Machado. Rogers has been called "a prominent guitarist" by the New York Times, and praised by The Washington Post for his “astonishingly florid” improvisations; he fuses classical, jazz, and world music into beautiful, expressive and virtuosic performances. He has given recitals and conducted master classes throughout North America, was a musician with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 18 years and taught at Southern Oregon University for 13 years.

On Wednesday, October 30th marimba player, Greg Giannascoli, and electric pianist, Ron Stabinsky will perform the music of George Gershwin. Greg Giannascoli is a Grammy nominated marimba and percussion artist and winner of the 2001 Artist International New York Recital / Young Artist Competition. He was also top prize winner of the 1997 Patrons of Wisdom International Young Artist Competition. Greg tours regularly, performing on many Community Concert Series programs throughout the US, as a soloist with orchestras, and in recital throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Ron Stabinsky is probably best known as a member of the notorious band Mostly Other People Do The Killing. In 2018 joined the reunited rock band Meat Puppets and toured with them. Since 2000, Ron has been studying the Taubman Approach to piano playing with Edna Golandsky.
