Register For an Online Library Account

If you have a library card, you can access the library online! 

Your online library account will show details of books you’ve checked out, place and follow holds, and  renew your items online.   

Online

Step 1.Visit the catalog website 

Go to our catalog at catalog.mainlib.org.

Step 2.Go to the registration page 

Click on MY ACCOUNT, then LOG IN/REGISTER.

Step 3.Enter your information 

Enter the following: 

  • The barcode on the back of your library card 
  • The four digit PIN you received when you got your library card 

(Note: If you don’t know your PIN, click FORGOT YOUR PIN OR PASSWORD, and follow the prompts.) 

Step 4.Follow the prompts

Follow any on-screen prompts to complete setting up your account.

Step 1.Get your library card

Have your library barcode ready. You can find your barcode on the back of your library card.  

Step 2.Call us 

Call us at 973-285-6930. 

Step 3.Ask us about setting up an online account 

We’ll ask you for your barcode and your four digit PIN, which you received when you got your library card.

Note: If you don’t remember your PIN, it must be changed in person. Once your online account is set up, you can change your PIN online.

In Person

Step 1.Go to the circulation desk

This will be to your right as you walk in the building. 

Step 2.Present your library card 

Have library card or license ready for staff.  

Step 3.Ask about creating an online account 

Ask for help creating an online account.

If you forgot your PIN number, or want to change it, you can do that also.
