We are very excited to offer curbside service at the Morris County Library (MCL) starting Tuesday, June 23! Here are some instructions to guide you through the process.
How Curbside Service Works
Step 1: Place something on hold
You may place a hold on our material in the library catalog (to be picked up at MCL) starting Monday, June 22. Please be sure to select Morris County Library as the pickup location.
When the library is open, you may also call our Circulation Desk (973-285-6930) to request that an item be placed on hold.
Step 2: Receive a notification
When we process an item you’ve placed on hold, it will remain on our holds shelf for one week. At the time the item is processed, you’ll receive automatic notification via your preferred method (phone, email or text). In addition, we plan to call each patron to provide the phone number for the Circulation Desk and some basic information about curbside pickup.
Step 3: Pick up your held item(s)
Call the Circulation Desk (973-285-6930) at least thirty minutes beforehand. We’ll be able to get items checked out to you in advance, placed in a bag, and made ready for contactless pickup (placed in the trunk of your car). Please note that we’ll only be able to receive calls during the times we are open.
When you arrive, call the Circulation Desk to let us know you’re here.
Please follow the signs directing you to the area in our parking lot where we can deliver your material.
The Governor’s Office has specified that patrons must remain in their vehicles during curbside delivery (Administrative Order No. 2020-15; 6/13/20).
(Note: You can show up for your material without calling in advance, but calling ahead will definitely help to expedite the process! Please call ahead if you can.)
Starting Tuesday, June 23 the library hours will be adjusted to the following:
- Tuesday and Wednesday – 10 AM to 6 PM
- Thursday – 11 AM to 7 PM
- Friday and Saturday – 9 AM to 5 PM
- Sunday and Monday – CLOSED
In regard to returns, we ask that you use our book drops only. We’re pulling material from the book drops, daily, and quarantining for 96 hours before discharging and re-shelving. This is the surest way to avoid person-to-person contact and to ensure safe handling.
As this is a new process for all of us – staff and patrons – please let us know how we’re doing! Our goal is to provide the best possible service to you given the circumstances.
